FARMINGTON-WEST HARTFORD, CT — A day after not opening due to "an abundance of caution" prompted by protesters clogging highways in Connecticut and nationwide, the Westfarms shopping center reopened Tuesday morning.

Amanda Sirica, a spokesperson for the mall, said Westfarms opened Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Angry protests in cities across the country have resulted in property destruction, fires, looting and even some deaths. The outcry has come on the heels of the death of George Floyd, a Minneapolis man who was arrested and forcibly pinned to the ground by a police officer who kept his knee on the suspect's neck for more than eight minutes. Floyd subsequently died, and the officer was fired, then charged with murder.
