10 Fewer Teaching Positions in Glastonbury's $104 Million School Budget Proposal

The school board is slated to vote on the spending plan next week.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Superintendent of Schools Alan Bookman has proposed an education budget of $104.4 million for the 2017-18 fiscal year.

The bottom line totals $104,480,279, an increase of 3.1 percent from the current fiscal year.

Bookman said he was initially facing a 1.9 percent increase because of salary increases, but by eliminating 10 teaching positions, the salary account increase has been lowered to a 1.2 jump.

The school board is scheduled to vote on the school budget at its Jan. 9 meeting. The budget then goes to the Town Council.
