GLASTONBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation is developing plans to remove or replace three retaining walls on Route 17.
The agency said the project will remove One retaining wall (officially No. RW-053-017-003) and re-grade the slope beyond the existing roadway curb.
Two other retaining walls (Nos. RW-053-017-002 and RW-053-017-004) would be removed and replaced with a new retaining wall system.
CT DOT said the present schedule indicates the design will be completed in 2027. Construction is anticipated to start in 2028, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits.
The project is planned with 80 percent federal funding and 20 percent state funding, according to CT DOT.
