Glastonbury Babysitter Accused of Stealing Man's ID, Checks

The suspect reportedly admitted to stealing and cashing checks from her employer.

A Glastonbury babysitter for a South Windsor family is accused of stealing her employer’s identity and cashing checks that belonged to him, according to a report.

Karen Broderick, 42, of 25 School St., Glastonbury, was arrested Tuesday after South Windsor Police obtained an arrest warrant charging her with third-degree identity theft, third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery, according to WFSB.

Police said they received a complaint from the man in July who said he suspected his babysitter had stolen checks and jewelry from his home. According to WFSB, Broderick admitted to stealing and cashing the checks. She is free on an $8,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Sept. 25.
