Has your teen son decided his life yet?

Allowing your teenage son to explore opportunities he encounters will help him discover the things that make him happy. Encouraging exploration will create an immense amount of possibilities that can help your son find his passions. Ask yourself, are you encouraging your son to try new things? Are you helping him move towards experiences he might be interested in? Remember your son needs support in this area of his life because for a teen boy it is truly overwhelming to think about the future and all of the unknowns.

It is important for your son to start understanding himself if he has not already. What are his strengths? What are the things right now in life that are making him happy or he is interested in?

These are key questions for parents to be aware of if your son is not sure about which path to take when confused about things in life. It is also normal for a young man to be confused. I think it is actually a good thing because it shows he is thinking about it and wants to learn and discover the world around him.

Again, are you encouraging your son or are you getting frustrated with him because he hasn’t decided his life? If you are encouraging and understanding you are on the right track. If frustration is circulating it is important for parents to understand it is ineffective to push your son at your pace. A lecture will also be a sure way for any parent to be tuned out. Allow him to take his time and be opened minded about his ideas and the life he wants to live even if they might be different than yours.
