Quercus and Eclectica Quartets will join forces for a concert at The Lutheran Church of St. Mark on Sunday, October 4th at 2:30 pm.
The Quercus String Quartet will perform an enthusiastic program of dance music from a variety of cultures and genres. Beginning with an original composition by a Connecticut composer, the concert will take the audience on a musical journey from Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag, then Vivaldi’s La Follia, ending with a waltz by Glazunov and the hit song Shut Up and Dance.
Eclectica will round out the program with take on an English country dance, a Monteverdi canzonet, Bach chestnuts Siciliano and Bourrée, a pair of Klezmer folk dances, and their rendition of the jazz standard, “Nature Boy.”
Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. The Lutheran Church of St. Mark is located at 75 Griswold St., Glastonbury. Ample off-street parking is available behind the church building. Doors open at 2:00 pm. More information is available at saintmarkglastonbury.org.
