Car Theft Suspect Runs Out Of Gas On Highway In Glastonbury: Police
A car burglary suspect in Glastonbury was located on foot after a wild sequence that included him running out of gas, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A suspected car burglar in a stolen vehicle ran out of fuel while trying to elude police in Glastonbury and then fled on foot to continue his theft spree before finally being corralled, police said.
David McClendon, 34, of Hartford, was charged with:
- Larceny of a motor vehicle
- Second-degree criminal trover
- Third-degree burglary
- Sixth-degree larceny
The arrest materialized in the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday after Glastonbury police received several calls that turned out to be connected.

Police said that McClendon had stolen a vehicle from Hartford during the overnight hours and drove into Glastonbury and went on a burglary spree in other vehicles before running low on gas.
McClendon attempted to gain assistance from residents, but fled the area once police were called, a report indicates.

McClendon headed toward toward Route 2 and then ran out of gas in the stolen car on the highway, abandoned it on the Route-2 off-ramp to Route 3 and then fled on foot to the Glastonbury business district, where he began stealing items from several other vehicles, according to an arrest report
He was then apprehend, police said.
