Do you handle your defiant teen like this?

Having a defiant teenager can make you feel alone, judged by other parents and make you think you’re the only person in the world who has a teenager who doesn’t listen.

You ask yourself, “Am I a bad parent?” But, it’s important to remember you’re doing the best you can with what you know. And, the worst thing any parent can do is give up on their teen. Even if your son acts out, it is your responsibility as a parent to guide them on a better path suited for their needs. To start give them support and proper parenting once you get to the root of the problem.

But, how do you get to the root of the problem?

First, look deeper and think deeper.

Second. Identify possible causes…Such as…

• What events lead to the problem?
• What conditions allow the problem to occur?
• What other problems surround the occurrence of the root problem?

Once, you’re able to answer the above questions think about …

Helping your teen develop problem solving skills.

If your son is yelling and screaming and won’t listen to you. Set boundaries. Create dialogue and talk about the best way to go about the problem with your son.

But, tell your son your feelings and be confident while expressing yourself.
