GLASTONBURY, CT — Eversource Energy's vegetation management team is set to assess and inspect trees along 95 miles of electric lines in Glastonbury this year and will perform tree work to "maximize reliability for the greatest number of customers," officials for the utility said.

"With trees being the number one cause of power outages and seeing the damage they can cause to the electric system, especially during storms, trimming overhanging branches and addressing hazard trees is vital," Eversource Manager of Vegetation Management Jenna Turner said. "Our comprehensive and thoughtful vegetation management program improves electric service for our customers during all types of weather, and we continue to see fewer power outages where this work has been done."

The energy company is closely coordinating its plan with community leaders and communicating with property owners to explain details of the work being done and their option to keep the wood cut on their property. Officials said, as a reminder, all contractors carry proper identification, will never ask to enter a private residence, and there is no cost to the property owner for this work.
