The Glastonbury Auxiliary Donates $101,000 to Support The Village’s Mission

Proceeds from Second Chance Shop support a full range of children's and adult behavioral health treatment and community support services

The Glastonbury Auxiliary of The Village for Families & Children has done it again! This year, the completely volunteer-run Auxiliary contributed over $101,000 to The Village.

For more than half a century, the Glastonbury Auxiliary has been supporting The Village's programs that build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children.

The Village provides a full range of children's and adult behavioral health treatment, foster care and adoption, and community support services for children and their families in the Greater Hartford region, serving 8,500 clients each year.

The Auxiliary supports this life-changing work by selling new and gently used clothes, accessories, antiques and collectibles, toys, and household items in its Second Chance Shop. The shop is run by about 60 volunteers.

The three Village Auxiliaries in Glastonbury, Simsbury and Suffield contributed a combined total of $256,000 to The Village this year, and almost $4.2 million over the past two and half decades.

“I am constantly amazed and gratified by the dedication of more than 400 volunteers in our Glastonbury, Simsbury and Suffield Auxiliaries,” said Galo Rodriguez, The Village president & CEO. "Their contributions − of time, treasure and talent − make true change possible for the children and families served by The Village."

The Glastonbury Second Chance Shop is located at 730 Hebron Avenue and is open 10am-4pm Tuesdays-Fridays and 10am-2pm Saturdays.
