Glastonbury Chick-fil-A on Track for Summer Opening

The Glastonbury franchise will be the second Connecticut Chick-fil-A restaurant to open this year.

GLASTONBURY, CT – Glastonbury's new Chick-fil-A restaurant is on track to open later this summer, officials for the company said Tuesday.

The Chick-fil-A will be a stand-alone structure at 2941 Main St.

New England native Jordan Snook has been named franchise owner. The plan is to hire as many as 100 people, officials said. A grand opening date has not yet been announced.

According to a Chick-fil-A biography, Snook grew up near Boston and his family moved to Arkansas when he was 15. A few years later, he was hired at a local Chickfil-A restaurant. He worked closely with the franchise owner and continued to advance at the restaurant.

After graduating college with a degree in business administration, Snook moved to Texas when the franchise owner opened a new restaurant there. A year later, Snook joined Chick-fil-A’s corporate leadership development staff and spent two years moving around the country as an interim manager and helping franchise owners open new locations.

Snook temporarily lived in Connecticut as part of his corporate assignment and visited Glastonbury along with his wife, Emily. The pair "fell in love" with the area and are "thrilled" be opening the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in the community, officials said.

Glastonbury’s 4,800-square-foot Chick-fil-A restaurant will include drive-through service featuring two ordering lanes merging into a single lane for pickup as well as dining room seating for 84 and patio seating for 12.

The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., offering a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m. Chick-fil-A restaurants have been closed on Sundays since 1946 in a practice established by its founder, Truett Cathy, to allow employees "a day of rest and worship."

When it opens, it will be the second Connecticut Chick-fil-A restaurant to open this year, following the chain’s Southington location that opened in January.

Chain officials said the franchise is hiring full-time and part-time positions in all areas of the restaurant, including "leadership development, hospitality, catering, training and marketing."

Each position will include benefits like scholarships for continuing education, officials said.
