Glastonbury Cops Release Images Of Wayward Cotton Hollow Car Occupants

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury police Wednesday released images of two people they and the town manager said nearly hit a cop and other pedestrians Sunday near the Cotton Hollow Preserve while feeing a traffic stop.

The vehicle in question is a 2013 white Hyundai Elantra bearing what police said is a "fake" Connecticut temporary plate 92F4343, police said. The vehicle, with two people inside, sped away from authorities when they attempted to pull it over for the false plate, police said. It then narrowly missed an officer and civilians who were walking near the park, officials said.

The car and other incidents have prompted the closure of Cotton Hollow until further notice, Glastonbury Town Manager Jonathan Luiz said, citing "safety concerns."

Grange Pool will remain open with its standard operating hours and regulations, officials said.

He said extra patrols will be employed to monitor the park.

Luiz said municipal staff members have witnessed marijuana smoking and alcohol consumption, both in the parking lot and in and along Roaring Brook. In addition, visitors have been "cliff jumping" and lighting fires, and even grilling on the fires, he said.

Trash has also been discarded on the park, he said.
