Glastonbury Education Board Reaffirms Logo Change
The board has reaffirmed its decision to change the high school's logo after a hearing last week ended with a fight.

GLASTONNURY, CT — The Board of Education has reaffirmed its decision to discontinue the town's former mascot after a hearing ended in violence last week, according to FOX 61. The meeting last week came to an abrupt end when a punch was thrown at a board member.
The controversy is over the board's previous decision to remove the Tomahawk logo and mascot for Glastonbury High School. The board reaffirmed that decision in a vote Monday night by a 7 to 1 vote.
The board said that one of the original reasons for changing the mascot is that they felt the old logo was divisive, FOX 61 reported.

The high school adopted a different logo this year, the Guardians. However, a petition to restore the Tomahawk logo was signed by hundreds, and a hearing on the proposal was scheduled. That meeting abruptly ended after a resident got into a fight with board member.
