Glastonbury Native's Working Moms Blog Turns One Year Old!

CT Working Moms Blog, started by Glastonbury native Michelle Noehren, celebrates its first birthday today.

A blog for working moms that began with one Glastonbury mother’s desire for a central source for motherhood on the web celebrates its one-year anniversary today.

The blog—CT Working Moms—began one year ago today after founder Michelle Noehren hoped to create a community where working mothers could find the resources they needed.

"I had a really hard time finding a local resource for working moms. I could find info about childcare in one place but had to look other places for information about breastfeeding, child development and the like,” Noehren said. “Working moms are so busy that I wanted to create a one-stop-shop where moms could find everything they need."

With 24 working-mom bloggers, and almost 250,000 hits in its first year, the website has really taken off. The website skyrocketed in June, when several of the mom-bloggers showed off their bellies to generate awareness regarding getting back in shape after giving birth, and to foster positive outlooks on their bodies.

Since its inception and the body image campaign, the site has gained attention from national media outlets.

Noehren said that she expects the site to continue its momentum in 2013 and beyond.

“We’ve really built an incredibly non-judgmental community for moms and are excited to see where the future takes us,” Noehren said.
