Glastonbury Residents Reminded To Conserve Water During Dry Season
Suggestions include taking shorter showers and minimizing watering of lawns and gardens.
August 26, 2020
Several Connecticut communities have recently issued Drought warnings or alerts, and mandated water conservation due to low reservoir water supplies. While Glastonbury and its neighboring communities have not yet reached levels where such actions are necessary, it is essential to practice water conservation activities year-round, especially during dry years such as this, where temperatures have been very high and rainfall levels are continually low. Glastonbury community members are encouraged to practice water conservation measures on an ongoing basis to help prevent drought conditions such as taking shorter showers, minimizing watering of lawns and gardens, and turning off water while brushing teeth, shaving, or washing dishes. These proactive activities are important for residents who have private wells and public water. The Department of Public Health has provided a water saving summary reference guide to help water users better understand average water usage based on common daily activities.
