Glastonbury Roundabout Construction Under Way
A major intersection in Glastonbury is being transformed into a roundabout.
GLASTONBURY, CT — A project to Construct a roundabout at the intersection of Hebron Avenue and New London Turnpike is scheduled to begin this week and officials from Glastonbury's Department of Physical Services said that motorists should expect delays.
The initial phase of the project, to be conducted during the month of April, includes the removal of vegetation on the area, utility relocation, the temporary relocation of traffic signal equipment, and widening of all four corners of the intersection, officials said.
Shoulder and lane closures will be in effect, but no detours should be needed, officials said.

Phase 1 will conclude with removal of the existing traffic signal and the circular roundabout type of vehicular progression will be established, officials said.
Phase 2, expected to start in the latter part of April, will include the temporary closure of a 200 foot section of New London Turnpike on the north side of Hebron Avenue for reconstruction of this approach, officials said.

Traffic will follow a signed detour around this area using Welles Street, Main Street, and Hebron Avenue and access to businesses and driveways in the project area will be maintained at all times, officials said.
