Glastonbury COVID-19 Figures as of 6/21/2020

As per CT Department of Public Health (DPH) lab testing data available 6/21/20, Glastonbury has 2,180 residents who have been tested for COVID-19. Of those 2,180 residents, 301 are laboratory-confirmed positive and probable cases of COVID-19. While 0 new deaths were reported this past week, previous data underwent some correction, including 1 death for the week of June 8. To date, Glastonbury has lost a total of 75 residents.* Consistent with previous weeks, the greatest number of positive cases are seen in the age group 80 years and older. We continue to see an increase in the number of individuals tested across all age ranges due to increased access to testing and a focus by DPH to enter testing information to support the new Contact Tracing program. The greatest number of residents tested continues to be in the 50-59 year age group. A total of 177 females and 124 males are positive.

Parks & Recreation Updates – Pools, Playgrounds, and Camps

  • Pools - Addison & Grange Pools will open in early July. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, patrons are required to sign up and pay the daily fee ahead of time for specific time slots. Pool passes will NOT be available. Capacity will be limited per Department of Public Health regulations. Eastbury Pond will be a swim-at-your-own risk (no lifeguards on duty). The GHS Pool is CLOSED for the summer 2020 due to school renovations. More detailed information will be available soon.
  • Camp Discovery and Playgrounds - Open this summer as of June 22. Limited spots are still available in all sessions. Please click here for more information or to register.
  • Summer programs & camps have been canceled or modified to comply with CDC guidelines and Executive Orders. Click here to view their revised brochure which outlines these changes.
  • Public Restrooms – The restrooms at Riverfront and Addison Parks are OPEN as of the afternoon of June 22.
  • GHS Track and Tennis Courts will be CLOSED FOR REPAIRS beginning Monday, 6/29. An update will be posted when the work is complete and these facilities have reopened to the public.

Refuse and Recycling Updates – Schedule Updates and Refuse Permits

  • Transfer Station (TS) – As of June 15, the TS is operating under its standard, pre-COVID-19 schedule as of June 15. The TS is open Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with extended Wednesday hours of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM during Daylight Savings Time. All standard materials accepted and applicable fees charged as outlined in the Waste Disposal Guidelines. Put and Take area remains CLOSED.
  • Bulky Waste Facility - Will resume standard, pre-COVID operating hours on Monday, June 29. Beginning June 29, the facility will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Refuse Permits – Refuse Permits will be available for purchase beginning July 1 at the Transfer Station and Bulky Waste Facilities only. (Not available at Town Hall while the building is closed to the public.) Mail-in and online permit purchase processes are in progress and additional information is forthcoming.
  • Face masks and social distancing REQUIRED at Town refuse & recycling facilities. Please wear a face mask when you cannot maintain a 6 foot or greater distance from others. Residents may also consider visiting the refuse/recycling facilities on weekdays in lieu of Saturdays to help minimize congregation and expedite your trip.

Renter’s Rebate Program Now Open to Eligible Glastonbury Residents

Glastonbury Social Services is now accepting applications for the Renter’s Rebate Program. Eligible residents interested in applying should click here to view/download the application and required documentation. Instructions on where/how to submit the application are explained on the form. Due to COVID-19, applications are only being accepted by email, U.S. Mail, or using the Drop box located outside of the Parks & Recreation office (Academy Building - 2143 Main Street). Residents of Naubuc Green or Glastonbury Housing Authority properties may also drop their applications at the boxes located at Center Village (#75, Main Building), Welles Village (GHA office), Herbert T. Clark or Naubuc Green. Please contact Glastonbury Social Services with any questions regarding the application and related processed at (860) 652-7638.

WTML Remains Closed Whiles Preparations in Progress to comply with Reopen CT Guidelines

The Welles-Turner Memorial Library (WTML) remains closed to the public while they make the necessary preparations associated with the state’s Reopen Connecticut guidelines. As WTML staff work to comply with these guidelines to create a safe environment for Glastonbury families, virtual programming, digital services, and the Curbside Book Pickup Program will continue to be available. Dog Licenses Renew in June

Dog owners may renew their dog licenses online, by U.S. mail, or using the Tax Drop boxes located outside of Town Hall. Visit www.glastonbury-ct.gov/doglice... for detailed instructions on each renewal method.

In-Person Programs/Events

  • Youth & Family Services (Y&FS) in-person programs have been modified to comply with CDC guidelines and Executive Orders. Visit the Y&FS web page for more information.
  • WTML programs continue to be offered virtually. The Curbside Book Pickup program is also currently available. Visit their website for more information.
  • Senior Services programs are available virtually. View the June/July Sharing Tree newsletter for scheduled and ongoing programming.

Governor Lamont Announces Tri-State Travel Advisory

On June 24, Governor Ned Lamont issued a press release introducing a Tri-State Travel Advisory and Self-Quarantine regulations. "Effective 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, anyone traveling into Connecticut, New York, or New Jersey from a state that has a new daily positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents or a state with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average is directed to self-quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state. As of Wednesday, June 24, the list of applicable destination states includes: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. This list will be continually updated as the situation develops across the country." Click here to view the most recent list of states impacted by this advisory, which is subject to change with new data/developments. For the health and safety of all, Glastonbury residents visiting states on this list are asked to observe the 14 day self-quarantine and avoid ALL PUBLIC PLACES until completing the 2 week period. There are numerous resources available to support stay-at-home orders including takeout and food delivery services, virtual programming, and recreational opportunities at your own home (e.g. private pool, sprinklers, digital library, Zoom video chats with family/friends, etc.) Please visit www.glastonbury-ct.gov/covid19 for a list of COVID-19 resources and www.glastonbury-ct.gov/stayengaged for ways to stay healthy, active, and occupied during self-quarantine.

* Data from DPH is considered preliminary, and data changes as new reports are received and data errors are corrected. In an ongoing process of data assessment, DPH continues to modify how certain disease-positive lab results are considered, changing some previous counts. Probable cases of COVID-19 involve persons who have not had confirmatory laboratory testing (RT-PCR) performed for COVID-19, but whose symptoms indicate they are likely to have a COVID-19 infection. In Connecticut, most of the probable COVID-19 cases involve persons whose death certificates list COVID-19 disease or SARS-CoV-2 as a cause of death or a significant condition contributing to death. Prior to June 1, probable and confirmed cases were reported together.1
