Here are the details of the closure and detour route.

It’s Friday and that can only mean that there will be another weekend lane closure of the Putnam Bridge.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises there will be a full northbound directional closure of the William H. Putnam Bridge (Route 3 over the Connecticut River), from Wethersfield heading to Glastonbury, will begin at 8 p.m. today (July 17) and continue until 5 a.m. Monday, July 20.

Northbound motorists will be directed to Route 2 via I-91 Northbound to the Charter Oak Bridge (Route 5 and Route 15 Northbound).

This scheduled closure as well as the additional directional closures listed below are required for the final milling and paving of the bridge as part of the ongoing $35 million bridge rehabilitation project. The planned schedule of directional closures may change based on weather or unforeseen circumstances:

  • 7/24/15 – 7/27/15 northbound closure (Wethersfield heading to Glastonbury)
  • 7/31/15 – 8/03/15 southbound closure (Glastonbury heading to Wethersfield)

Signs and police officers will be stationed at key intersections to guide motorists.
