Invasive Plant Warning Extended Along Glastonbury Riverfront
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has extended its invasive species warning in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has extended its invasive species warning on the Connecticut River in Glastonbury.
The presence of hydrilla, an invasive plant that can spread aggressively, is nothing new. In 2016 hydrilla was found in the main stem Connecticut River in Glastonbury, near Riverfront Park and the boathouse.
Hydrilla has now, "spread throughout the river and can be found in numerous areas," according to the latest DEEP fishing report, released Friday morning.

All lake users should take "extra care" to check and clean boats (including canoes, kayaks and rowing sculls), trailers, and fishing equipment before leaving the boat launch, or leaving the lakeshore, according to the announcement.
