Discussion: Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks

Wed. Jan. 20, 2:00 – 3:30 (Snow date Jan. 27)
Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks

Based on the life of Caleb Cheeshahteaumuck, (born in the mid 1600s), of the Wopanaak tribe on Martha’s Vineyard, this novel explores the tensions between the Puritans and American Indians through the eyes of a minister’s daughter. Her friendship with Caleb is central to the novel.

“Caleb’s Crossing” could not be more enlightening and involving. Beautifully written from beginning to end, it reconfirms Geraldine Brooks’s reputation as one of our most supple and insightful novelists. New York Times Book Review
