Man Charged In Glastonbury Fatal Wreck: State Police
A Hartford man has been charged in connection with a deadly crash in January.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash in January, according to state police. Mark Herbst, 63, of Hartford, was charged with negligent homicide, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to wear safety belt.
Herbst turned himself in to police on a warrant Thursday at 11 a.m. He was released on $2,500 bond.
Police were called regarding a crash on Route 2 west in Glastonbury near exit 9 at 5:29 p.m. on Jan. 4. The crash involved Herbst, who was driving a 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML 350, and Marie Mathieu, 59, of Colchester, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry.

Mathieu's car was pulled over in the gore—an area between the on ramp and the right lane—when the crash occurred, according to state police. Police listed "driver inattentiveness" as a contributing factor to the crash.
Mathieu was transported to the hospital following the wreck and died of her injuries.
