Man Charged in Glastonbury for Fraud Using Food Stamp Card

He was arrested on a warrant, police said.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury police have charged a New Britain Man with credit card fraud and fourth-degree larceny for allegedly misusing a card through which needy residents get food assistance and other state-sanctioned aid.

Michael Mendez, 32, of New Britain, was picked up by state police out of the Troop H barracks at 9:17 p.m. on Friday and taken to Glastonbury police headquarters, where he was charged, police said. Police had two warrants for his arrest, law enforcement records indicate.

He was being held on a court-set bond of $50,000 and is expected in court for arraignment on Nov. 2, police said.

The alleged crimes took place in December with a former girlfriend's state-issued EBT card, police said.
