Moonshine Holler (at The Buttonwood Tree) 12/5/14 8-10PM

An acoustic duo that presents a program of traditional American music and dance featuring spine-tingling vocal harmonies

They capture the essence of American roots music on more instruments than they can juggle, including fiddle, banjo, Hawaiian guitar, harmonica and ukulele. They have performed at festivals and concert venues large and small across the country and abroad and have appeared twice on WAMC’s acclaimed radio program “Dancing on the Air”.

Moonshine Holler brings an incredible wealth of music and performing experience which captivates audiences of all ages. Paula has toured worldwide with old-time darlings “Uncle Earl” and toured and recorded with banjo innovator Tony Trischka and traditional music powerhouse Bruce Molsky. Her husband, Bill, is a member of the legendary NYC-based band “Major Contay & The Canebrake Rattlers” who have been at the heart of NYC’s roots music scene for over 30 years. Together as “Moonshine Holler”, they are an engaging and entertaining duo who present “old-time music from the heart with sole” (pun intended icon_wink.gif

“It’s a joy to watch a husband-wife team that has so much fun on stage. Moonshine Holler offers up great vocals and spine-tingling duet harmonies, sweet picking and twangin’, more instruments than you can shake a stick at, and a varied repertoire that ranges from fiery old-time fiddle chestnuts to little-known country crooners. Highly recommended!Rani Arbo of Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem

“You can be pretty confident that any group featuring Bill and Paula will come up with old-time music of the best sort!” Tom Paley, founding member, The New Lost City Ramblers
