New Town Manager Appointed In Glastonbury
Glastonbury has a new municipal chief executive.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Jonathan Luiz has been appointed the next town manager in Glastonbury.
The appointment of Luiz was confirmed by Town Council This week and he will succeed longtime town manager Richard Johnson.

Last year, the town retained Strategic Government Resources to manage the recruitment process for a successor to Johnson. Over the past several months, SGR conducted a "broad and rigorous recruitment search," that resulted in a pool of applicants from across the nation and Canada.

Following an "extensive interview process," three finalists participated in a community meet-and-greet session, as well as final discussions with the Town Council, municipal management staff members and residents.
Luiz emerged as the top choice, town officials said and was officially appointed Tuesday.

“It was a bittersweet moment, formalizing the employment of a new town manager and ending the tenure of a gentleman who has served this Town with distinction," Council Chairman Tom Gullotta said.
Luiz has served as the town administrator in Weston for the past five years. Prior to that role, he held other positions in Connecticut municipalities, including assistant town manager in Windsor, Columbia's town administrator and the administrative services coordinator in Canton.
Luiz holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Emory University. He has also attended the University of Virginia's Senior Executive Institute and is a Credentialed Manager from the International Association of City/County Management Association.
Said Luiz, "I am grateful to have been appointed Glastonbury’s next Town Manager. This is a dream come true. I look forward to serving the community, working for the Town Council, and collaborating with staff."
Luiz is scheduled to start in Glastonbury on March 31.
