Odiyana Buddhist Center Spreads Peace Throughout CT

Through Buddhist practice; individuals, families and communities can experience peace and happiness

Odiyana Kadampa Buddhist Center, located at 36 Main Street, East Hartford, is a meditation center dedicated to world peace by offering everyone the opportunity to develop mental peace through meditation and related practices. Classes are open to everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners. These teachings offer clear, practical methods to improve our human nature and qualities through developing the capacity of our mind. The center welcomes people from all faiths and those who do not subscribe to any faith. You do not have to be Buddhist to take part in the classes or to benefit from them. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Odiyana is supported entirely by student donations and volunteer efforts.

Gen Khyenwang , the center's Resident Teacher, is a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, founder of the Kadampa tradition. The teachings she shares are clear, heartfelt and extremely practical for modern life. Gen Khyenwang is an inspiring example of a contemporary Buddhist practitioner and is known for her warmth and sincerity, putting time-tested teachings into practice in daily life.
