St. Luke's Church presents the silent film The Cat and Canary, with a live organ music on Saturday, October 25th at 7pm

St. Luke’s Church is showing the original 1927 silent film The Cat and Canary, with a live performance by organist Jeff Howey on a 1920 Austin pipe organ on Saturday, October 25th at 7pm at the church (915 Main Street, South Glastonbury). Tickets for the show can be purchased at the door, but reservations are recommended due to limited seating: $10 adults, $7 students/seniors and a non-perishable donation to the town food bank. A portion of the proceeds will go to support St. Luke’s mission work including, Adama’s Dream - a school that St. Luke’s helped to build in a remote village in Sierra Leone, providing an education for 200 children.
The plot revolves around the death of Cyrus West, who is Annabelle, Charlie, and Paul’s uncle, and the reading of his will 20 years later. Annabelle inherits her uncle’s fortune, but when she and her family spend the night in his haunted mansion they are stalked by a mysterious figure. Meanwhile, a lunatic known as “the Cat” escapes from an asylum and hides in the mansion.
Accentuating the eerie plot will be a live pipe organ performance by Jeff Howey. A graduate of Hartt College of Music, Jeff has been teaching and creating music since 1972. He has taught in schools and is retired from Hamden Hall Country Day School after 25 years. He is currently the choir director at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford and he also teaches at JC Music in Meriden.
