W. Patric Gregory on the History of Highway Safety Corp
W. Patric Gregory gives a brief history of Highway Safety Corp.

Since its founding by W. Patric Gregory in 1980, Highway Safety Corp has provided manufacturing and galvanizing services to construction and contracting customers who work in private and government-sponsored projects for the highway construction and solar industries.
When Mr. Gregory funded the business from the sale of a company that distributed machinery for the production of hardcover books, Highway Safety Corp had $540,000 in annual sales and only three employees. Today, through its two manufacturing and galvanizing facilities in Glastonbury, Connecticut and Marion, Ohio, the company boasts 133 employees, a management team with an average of more than 12 years of experience, and revenues that have exceeded $120 million.
Because of its presence in the highway market and its reputation for effective selling and responsive service, the company also represents the products of other manufacturers that fit its customer profile and match its specifications for quality. Indeed, one of the company’s core strengths is its ability to differentiate itself by excelling in practices that go beyond simply the manufacturing process.

In 2000, Highway Safety Corp received a quality certification from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), a technical institute and trade association established in 1921 dedicated to serving the nation’s structural steel and construction industry. The AISC’s quality certification has set the standard for the industry, and it is awarded only to the most deserving companies. Highway Safety Corp earned this distinction for its well-embedded practice of focusing on error prevention and safeguarding processes that turn out products of only the highest quality.
In addition, the company has received innumerable certificates, the citations of which are often measured in years, for working without a lost-time injury or illness. Indeed, its Marion plant has operated for six consecutive years without an injury or illness, and the plant in Glastonbury recently observed its own three-year milestone.
