Addley: Granby Public Schools Open Wednesday
Classes to be held for the first time since Friday, Oct. 28.

Superintendent of Schools Alan Addley announced that Granby public schools will be open Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Classes in town haven't been held since Friday, Oct. 28, due to massive power outages that were caused by a rare late-October snow storm that brought down power lines in north central Connecticut.
Addley wrote in a letter to parents that four roads - Whitman Drive, Glen Road, Woodland Drive and Crest Road - are still impassable to school buses; he provided alternative locations (listed below) for bus stops for children on those roads.
The following is a letter that Addley released on the Board of Education’s website at 4 p.m. today:
I am pleased to announce that all schools will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9th.
We have four roads that are still impassible for school buses. The following the streets are impacted and have alternate bus stops for pick-up and drop-off until further notification:
- Whitman Drive – the bus stop will be at the corner of Canton Road & Whitman Drive.
- Glen Road (between Spring Glen and Byron Drive) – the bus stop will be at the corner of Glen Road and Byron Drive.
- Woodland Drive – the bus stop will be at the corner of Glen Road and Woodland Drive.
- Crest Road – the bus stop will be at the corner of Crest Road and Elizabeth Street.
We will notify individual families when bus stops return to their original locations.

There are still downed wires on the side of roads and brush piles that may affect
drivers’ and pedestrians’ visibility. Parents and students should use extreme
caution when going to school tomorrow. We strongly encourage parents to
accompany students to and from the bus stop. We anticipate some bus delays
due to the road conditions.
We look forward to having all students back in school tomorrow. Thank you for
your patience and understanding during this past week. It has been much
appreciated.
Sincerely,
Alan Addley
Superintendent of Schools
