Big Changes Hit Park In East Granby

East Granby officials said the old playscape will be removed this week, with new equipment planned for early summer.

EAST GRANBY, CT — A major round of work is now underway at Granbrook Park.

East Granby Parks and Recreation said in a recent social media post that the park’s current playscape will be removed this week and replaced with new play equipment in early summer.

The town also said residents should expect more upgrades in the coming months, including resurfacing of the basketball court, conversion of the old tennis courts into 4-square, hopscotch and shuffleboard areas, a new water fountain and mister, and more softball field work, including a new scoreboard and batting cages to go with the new dugouts.

The latest update gives residents the clearest picture yet of where the project stands: the old playscape is coming out now, the new one is expected in early summer, and additional upgrades are lined up across several parts of the park.

Town records show some of that work already had official backing before the latest update was posted. At a March 5 special town meeting, voters approved up to $50,671 from the Capital Non-Recurring Fund for the Granbrook playscape and up to $13,600 for Granbrook fountains and a mister.
