GRANBY, CT — Granby’s proposed budget was voted down Monday.

According to a post Monday night from the Granby Democratic Town Committee, the bipartisan FY2026-27 town budget failed by a vote of 1,539 no to 1,166 yes. The committee said voters will return to the polls in two weeks on a new budget and warned residents to expect substantial cuts across both town government and the schools.

Town officials had said before the vote that the budget needed a majority of “yes” votes to take effect and that the process would repeat until voters approved a spending plan.

The vote came after the town posted its FY2026-27 budget book and departmental workshop presentations online ahead of the April 20 machine vote. Granby also had directed residents to budget meeting agendas and related materials through its website.
