Never has mental illness been more stigmatized than it is today.
And never has it been more urgent for those of us who live with a mental illness to tell the world that there’s no link between our illness and violence.
So now, more than ever, is the time to sign up to be a team captain for the 10th anniversary NAMIWalk. Register as a team captain at www.namiwalks.org/connecticut, collect a minimum donation of $30 to start, RSVP to the Team Captain Kick Off by March 18 and come to the Kick Off on Saturday, March 23.

You, too, could be a Walk Star! Walk Stars are those who have pledged to raise $1,000 or more to help raise funds for the free support groups and educational programs NAMI|Connecticut provides all across the state.
If you become a Walk Star, you will be invited to special events, and you'll receive a special Walk Star T-shirt, a crown, and a wand to display your regal status!

Of course, that’s just gravy. The real reason for the Walk, which will be held in Hartford’s Bushnell Park on Saturday, May 18, is to raise people’s consciousness about mental illness and reduce the stigma that has only grown stronger in the wake of recent events.
Remember, all donations are tax deductible. For more information, visit www.namiwalks.org/connecticut or call Janice Shilosky or Iris Nazario at 800-215-3021.
