(Hartford, CT) – Students from schools in the Greater Hartford area, who are entering grades 8, 9, or 10, are invited to apply to participate in the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Summer Musical Theater Workshop. The Workshop runs from Monday, June 24, 2013 through Friday, July 26, 2013. The program is no cost to families and is held at the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, located at 15 Vernon Street in Hartford. Applications are due Friday, March 22, 2013 by 4:00 p.m.
The Summer Workshop is for any student with a desire to develop his or her skills in musical theater. Students attend acting, voice, and movement classes during the morning, followed by lunch and an afternoon of rehearsal. The Summer Workshop will culminate with a performance of Grease on July 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The core funding for the Summer Musical Theater Workshop is provided by CREC and the State Department of Education. Parents are asked to make a contribution that will be used to help fund the program. Lunch is provided free of charge by the Hartford Board of Education. Parents must supply transportation to and from the Academy. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, from June 24, 2013 through July 26, 2013.
