Basketball, Hockey Update for Granby, East Granby High Schools
A look at the postseason possibilities for Bears and Crusaders basketball and ice hockey.

As regular season play on the ice and hardcourt enters its final weeks, the postseason picture for basketball and ice hockey teams from Granby Memorial and East Granby high schools is becoming clearer.
Boys basketball
Granby is enjoying a tremendous season, opening with a 12-1 record that has the Bears ranked second in Class M. The only setback was a single-digit loss to Suffield on opening night. Next: home vs. Simsbury, Wednesday, 7 p.m.

East Granby is 5-6, needing three more wins over the final nine games to qualify for the Class S tournament. Next: home vs. SMSA, Wednesday, 7 p.m.
Girls basketball

Both schools have struggled this season, but technically remain alive in the hunt for a postseason berth.
Granby is 3-12, and must win all five remaining regular season games to make the Class M tournament. Next: at Windsor Locks, Friday, 7 p.m.
East Granby lost its first 12 games, but has rebounded to win the past two. However, the Crusaders need victories in their final six games to qualify in Class S. Next: at SMSA, Wednesday, 7 p.m.
Ice hockey
After last year’s Division II state championship, the Suffield-Granby-Windsor Locks ice hockey co-op was shifted to Division I this season. Thus far, the Wildcats have responded, posting a 9-3 record which ranks them ninth in the state. The team is currently riding a three-game winning streak. Next: at Simsbury, Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
In Division II, the Fermi-Enfield-East Granby-Stafford co-op has struggled all season, with a 3-9 record. The Falcons need to reinvigorate over the latter part of the schedule to crack the top 16 teams in D-2. Next: at Tri-Town, Wednesday, 3:50 p.m.
