Super Sunday Programs!

"Living History" presentations at the Cossitt Library and Granby Public Library

Both the Friends of Cossitt Library and the Friends of Granby Public Library have worked hard to provide an awesome offering of programs throughout these winter weeks, and we hope everyone is taking advantage of whatever interests you.

Coming up this Sunday is a "living history" presentation by Elizabeth Wood, a docent at the Storrowton Village Museum, West Springfield, MA.  Ms. Wood will give an intimate portrayal of the life of Gertrude Failing Groff, who immigrated from Germany to the U.S. in 1900, worked for several years in the garment district in NYC and then migrated to Springfield in 1911.

Ms. Wood's colleague, Dennis Picard, the Director of the Storrowton, will be at Granby Public Library on Feb. 24, offering "The History of the New England Maple Sugar Festival," as well as another presentation at Cossitt Library on March 17, entitled "A Mason's Tool Chest: 18th & 19th-Century Stonework."

So if you are a history buff, these programs should prove to be intriguing and thought-provoking.  Teens are welcome also, as these presentations may help bring American history alive for them, too!
