The Benefits of Storm Nemo-Charlotte

This storm was a true reflection of the gifts of winter. The qualities of winter are quiet, peaceful, self reflection, hibernation, preserving of energy, rest.

It has been quite a culture shock having moved back to this area after living in Los Angeles for 11 years.  In California, there never is really a true feeling of the seasons, and storm has been a true reminder of the personality of nature and the season of winter.

In Chinese Medicine, human beings are a microcosm of the macrocosm or a small reflection of the whole. In my last post, I posted about the water element in Chinese medicine and philosophy and how it corresponds to the season of winter.

I was gifted with the ability to walk down a path in the woods, in complete peace and quiet, with no sounds of cars or business of people getting through their day.

We were given the opportunity to stay at home and rest with our families, to remind the neighbor that we were there to help if need be, and to be reminded by our neighbors of their help. Some of us were lucky enough to have lost our power where they were truly given the opportunity to reflect and turn their TVs, computers, and electricity off and just feel and be in the magnificence of nature.

We even got the exercise of shoveling massive amounts of snow! What a great way to start our work out regime.

Thank you storm Nemo-Charlotte!
