Simsbury, CT—A solid financial plan is the first step to a productive agricultural business, but where do you start? Join CT NOFA and the Community Farm of Simsbury for our Business Management Workshop on September 12 from 4-7pm with Presenter Erin Pirro, a Farm Credit East Business Consultant.

Meet Your Crop Plan's Better Half

A crop plan is something you do every year - because you have to order the inputs, you need to know in advance what you're growing and what it takes to make that happen.  If you think of money - working capital - as one other necessary input to a successful crop, you've taken the first step to a solid financial plan.  Learn how to cultivate your financial plan while you're doing your crop plan, develop a cash flow budget, and easily monitor that budget so all of your resources are available when you need them - in the height of the growing season.

If you have a CSA, or are considering starting a CSA, bring a light dish and come with questions, stories from experience and advice.  After for the workshop, stick around for a CSA Roundtable / Light Potluck. If you are interested in leading the roundtable or being a facilitator, please let us know!

The workshop is made possible by a grant from the National Institute for Food and Agriculture through the USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program.
