Simsbury Summer Theatre is open to residents of all towns. Auditions for cast and signup for the backstage crew for SST's production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical Carousel will be June 1 and 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dance auditions are at 7:45 on June 1 and June 4. SST is not-for-profit, completely self-funded
organization for high school and college students, is in its 49th
year of producing a Broadway show. Staff members include professionals from the Hartt School of Music, New England Dance, and professional theatre companies. Participants do
not have to be Simsbury residents, but must meet age requirements: Fall
2014 high school freshmen through age 23 may audition for cast and/or dance or
signup for crew. Auditions, rehearsals and performances are held at the Werner Centennial Theater on the campus of Westminster School.
Simsbury Summer Theatre alumni include Oscar, Grammy and Tony nominees and winners; composers, conductors, professional actors, instrumentalists and vocalists; Broadway, national tour and regional performers; and professional stage managers, crew, designers and technical theatre experts.
