Conservation Commission: Then There Were Four
Latest resignation leaves three vacancies on the panel

The Conservation Commission has a new vacancy, after the resignation of Shelley Reuben, who wrote in a letter dated Aug. 19 that she no longer had the time to fulfill her obligations on the commission.
Chairman Neil Hornish read the resignation letter at the commission’s regular meeting on Sept. 1 held at the Granby Police Department.
Reuben’s resignation means that there are now three vacancies on the Conservation Commission.
Anyone who is interested in serving as a volunteer commissioner should contact Town Manager William Smith or the respective chair of the Democratic or Republican town committee for additional details.
In other business, Hornish said that he did not believe that it would be possible to organize a clean energy fair this year.
“I just don’t see this happening at all,” Hornish said. “I think we’re running out of time.
“I would agree,” commissioner Carolyn Flint added.
Commissioner Anna Sogliuzzo said that the target date for a clean energy fair should be held on Earth Day, April 22, 2012.
“It’s kind of a logical fit for it,” Sogliuzzo said.
Hornish also announced that he had reviewed the minutes of past meetings, which revealed that he had been chairman for over a year.
At the time he took over being chair, Hornish said that he would do it for a year and then open it up to someone else if they wished to take over.
The three other commissioners in attendance expressed their desire for Hornish to remain chairman.
“I think you’re doing a great job,” Sogliuzzo said.
