CT Valley Views-The Health of CT’s Hospitals in Jeopardy with the Proposed Fiscal Budget

Christopher Hartley, Sr. Vice President of
Planning, Business Development and Government Relations at St. Francis Hospital
and Medical Center discusses the current economic factors in play for CT’s
health care facilities currently and anticipated with the proposed CT FY14-15 budget
with Susan Regan of CT Valley Views.

The Governor's proposal states that it
would provide hospitals with financial support at the current level through
2015. However, many factors inherent to this result involve a re-organization
of the financial picture based on the savings assumptions via the ACA.

The future of health care reform, both
in CT and nationally is based on two critical goals:

First is access — providing cost
efficient/effective health coverage for all , those who are uninsured as well
as the thousands who have coverage restrictions, high patient out-of-pocket
costs due to minimal coverage plans or other flaws yet to be experienced in the
ACA regulations which are a moving target at this juncture.

Second is controlling all health care
costs which can escalate due to the emerging aging populations (baby boomers),
lack of appropriate medical staff/procedures due to the reduced budgetary support
to our medical facilities.  Watch this
important overview to educate yourself on this important subject.  It is part of CT Valley Views coverage of the
“health” of CT’s health care industry so important to you and your families’
quality of life in our State.

The program may be seen on Cox/Enfield Channel 15, Friday April
