East Granby 14-Month-Old Toddler Dies as Result of Armored Car Crash

An East Granby toddler has died as a result of last Thursday's collision on Route 20 in Granby.

A 14-month-old baby who was hurt in last Thursday’s armored car vs. car crash has passed away, WFSB reports. The accident occurred on Route 20 in Granby.

According to Granby police, Kevin Ayers, 24, of East Granby, was driving eastbound on Route 20 last Thursday morning, when he collided with a westbound 2000 Ford armored truck. The armored vehicle was driven by Daniel Genie, 26, of Springfield, MA.

Ayers required extrication from the vehicle and was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital. His son, Landon Ayers, 14 months, was in the back seat in his car seat and was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he has been on life support since the Oct. 9 accident. Landon suffered spinal cord injuries as a result of the accident, his mother told news reporters.

The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to cover Landon’s funeral costs.
