If the budget passes, the mill rate will increase from 27 to 27.9 mills.

The following is a press release from the Town of East Granby

At the conclusion of the April 3, 2012 Annual Budget Hearing, the East Granby Board of Finance voted to send to Town Meeting the 2012-13 Budget of $19,074,968 which represents a 3.3 percent increase over 2011-12.

The proposed budget includes funding for the Board of Education of $14,200,000 or +4.5 percent; General Government - $4,231,400 or +2.8 percent; Debt Service of $178,012 or -53.7 percent; and the Capital Reserve fund of $465,556 or +20.1 percent.

This decision by the Board of Finance represents a reduction of .4 percent to the total budgets presented at the March 20 Board of Finance Meeting and which were published in the March 31, 2012 edition of the Town Newsletter. It is anticipated if the proposed $19,074,968 budget is passed that the mill rate would increase from 27.0 mills to 27.9 mills.

The Annual Budget Town Meeting will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the East Granby Senior & Community Center.  The Town Meeting will be adjourned without a vote being taken since the Board of Selectman has already called for a machine ballot referendum to be held at its traditional polling place, the Senior & Community Center for May 8, 2012.  It is anticipated that the hours of the polling station will be from 6 am to 8 pm.  For more information, please call the Selectman’s Office at 860-653-2576.
