East Granby Candidate Profile: Tami Zawistowski

Republican incumbent is running for a seat on the Board of Finance.

Tami Zawistowski is an incumbent on the Board of Finance. She is immediate past president of the East Granby Chamber, serves on the Economic Development Commission and is one of the organizers of the East Granby Farmers Market.

She is vice chair of the East Granby Republican Town Committee. She says she is an active supporter of the , directly and through her business, and manages publicity for several organizations in town, including the Historical Society.

During the past year, Zawistowski has been presented with the Small Business Leader of the Year award from the Chamber of Commerce, a Community Builder award from Building Community Bridges; and Republican of the Year award from the East Granby Republican Town Committee.

Zawistowski is a local small business owner. She operates Resource Books, LLC, in East Granby, buying and selling used and rare books, with customers worldwide. Previously, she was executive vice president of Northeast Savings, a $3.6 billion multi-state financial institution, and has held other high profile positions in finance and commercial real estate. She has also served as Assistant Director of the UConn School of Business Center for Real Estate and Economic Studies. She has a B.A. from the University of Connecticut and has earned the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.

Zawistowski indicates that she is a strong proponent of supporting local business, and understands the importance of encouraging small manufacturers and other suitable businesses to locate or expand and thrive in East Granby - to promote local job growth, and to increase and diversify the town’s tax base. She says she is committed to careful review of municipal spending during the budget process, with a focus on keeping East Granby affordable to all while supporting public safety, excellent education and other important town services.
