East Granby Launches New Website

Updated town portal is more interactive, enabling on-line payments and e-mail blasts

The town of East Granby launched a new, more user friendly website on Sept. 1.

“The previous website was from 2004 or 2005,” First Selectman Jim Hayden said. “It had been updated [frequently], but not with a fresher look.”

The updated site, http://eastgranbyct.org, is more interactive, according to Hayden, enabling the town to better communicate with residents through easier-to-use features to post announcements and also through the the use of e-mail blasts and the publication of eNewsletters.

In addition, the website is now on a platform that allows for the build out of new features, such as giving residents the ability to pay for parks and recreation activities online.

“Forms and applications are online already,” Hayden said. “But people will soon be able to make a payment online as well.”

What’s more, videos, such as Hayden’s Talking Turkey feature, are now embedded on the website instead of just being linked out.

The cost of updating the site, which is powered by AWR Web Design, LLC., has run about $4,000, Hayden said.
