
Joseph A. Washburn, 84, of East Granby, beloved husband for over 58 years of the late Janet Hope (Pechta) Washburn, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 26, 2016.
Born in Hartford to the late Kenneth and Arlene (Phelps) Washburn, he served his country proudly with the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a lifelong resident of East Granby. Joseph was a volunteer fireman with the East Granby Fire Dept and served as a constable for the Town of East Granby. He worked as an engineer for 41 years at KAMAN Aerospace. He was a mason, an independent contractor, a farmer and a 'jack of all trades'.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Jan Washburn and her husband, Joseph Sinisgalli of East Granby/West Hartford; his grandchildren: Zachary, Justin, Emma and Alexander; his great-grandchild Maxwell; his close friend Diane Levesque of Windsor Locks; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, James "Jimmy" Washburn.

Joseph lived life with a full heart and good intentions. He strived to treat others with kindness, dignity, and respect. He was a kindhearted man with a spirit of true goodness. He was hard-working, diligent, fair, charming and a notorious flirt. He loved to laugh and lived his life in all good fun. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbor. May his spirit continue to soar and grow within each of us, whose lives he touched.
The family would like to extend blessings of gratitude and peace to all of those who supported Joseph, medically and spiritually, on his life's journey.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
