Debris Pickup to Begin Dec. 5

Corrected motion passes overwhelmingly to approve $350,000 in cleanup costs that will take place beginning on Dec. 5.

The appropriation of a sum not to exceed $350,000 for debris pick-up was again overwhelmingly approved at the East Granby Town Meeting on Monday evening. (It was a voice vote, which, according to First Selectman Jim Hayden, looked like approximately 40 in favor and two opposed).

Any unspent funds and/or reimbursements will be returned to the capital non-recurring fund.

It was the second time that the . The second vote was necessitated due to the technical language contained in the first motion that took place Nov. 14 that jeopardized reimbursement of up to 75 percent of the funds from FEMA.

Hayden said in a press release that residents should bring branches and limbs curbside, but to take care in not having the debris hang into the road or block sightlines.

Hayden said that pickup will start Monday, Dec. 5 and that the vendor will make one pass per residencel residents are asked to have debris ready for pickup on that date. Call the First Selectmen's office for further information at 860-653-2576.
