East Granby Residents to Vote on Budget for Third Time
Proposed budget is $18.84 million, representing a tax increase of about 1.1 percent over current year.

East Granby school and government officials are hoping that the third time is a charm for the proposed 2012-13 municipal budget.
The proposed $18.84 million municipal budget represents a 1.99 percent increase in funding when compared with the previous year.
The budget includes $4.21 million for the general government, which includes town services, $174,000 for debt service and $416,666 for the capital reserve fund.
The school board is proposed to receive $14.04 million, which represents an increase of 3.28 percent when compared with the current year.
If the budget is approved, it would require a tax rate of 27.3 mills, an increase of 0.3 mills compared to the current year, representing a 1.1 percent tax increase.
If the budget is defeated today, then it will go to a fourth referendum, according to First Selectman James Hayden.
This year’s budget process represents an anomaly, at least in recent memory, as town officials said that they could not recall a budget that went to a third referendum.
