East Granby RTC Names Kirby Huget Republican of the Year

Chairman of the East Granby Board of Education was honored at a dinner on March 16.

Kirby Huget was named 2012 East Granby Republican of the Year at the Lincoln Day Dinner on March 16, an annual gathering of Republicans from the 7th Senatorial District.

The award, presented by East Granby Republican Town Committee (RTC) Vice Chair Tami Zawistowski, honors Huget for his dedication and service to the community and to the Republican Party.   

Huget was recently elected chair of the East Granby Board of Education, where he has served since 2006. He also serves as an alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals, is a moderator for elections and town meetings, and has served on other town boards and commissions. Huget has been very active in the Boy Scouts over the years, is an Adult Boy Scout Leader and has achieved many honor including Eagle Scout. He will step down as Chair of the East Granby RTC at the end of March but will continue as an active RTC member.

The event, attended by more than 200 Republicans from North Central Connecticut, was held at the Skyline Restaurant in Windsor Locks.  The keynote speaker was Larry Cafero, House Republican Leader of the Connecticut General Assembly.

The East Granby RTC meets monthly throughout the year, and all Republicans are welcome to attend.  The meeting schedule is available on the group’s website at www.EGRepublicans.com.
