Democratic Town Committee Awards Scholarship

State Rep. Elaine O'Brien recently awarded the 2012 East Granby Democratic Memorial Scholarship to graduating senior Melissa Kulik on behalf of the East Granby Democratic Town Committee (DTC).

The presentation was made at the senior banquet held at the and sponsored by the East Granby Chamber of Commerce.

"The deciding factor this year was Melissa's pursuit of a degree in education, with the goal of a career in special education" said Mike Malloy, Chairman of the DTC. "Helping those held back by their unique challenges improves all of society and we are thrilled to support that motivation in a graduating senior."

The scholarship is awarded annually in memory of past members of the Democratic Party who served the town of East Granby as volunteers on its various boards and commissions.

O'Brien represents the 61st district which includes the towns of East Granby, Suffield and Windsor.
