East Granby Softball Wins Conference Title

This is quite the feat for the smallest public high school in the state - and one that plays in a league with Class M and Class L teams. Nine of the 14 NCCC teams qualified for postseason play.

This is first East Granby team to go undefeated in the regular season and is the first girls team to win a league championship since the 1995-96 basketball team.

Junior shortstop Val Winalski, sophomore pitcher Genna Hartman, junior right fielder Caitlyn Daleb, and freshman first baseman Lilly McCarthy were named to the All-NCCC team.

The Crusaders fell to Suffield in the semifinals of the NCCC tournament on Friday, but will host No. 32 Sacred Heart (9-12) on Wednesday in the first round of the Class S state tournament.

East Granby is the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
