East Granby Town Meeting Set for Wednesday

Town residents will vote on eight capital requests and a request for funding from the open space fund.

The East Granby Board of Selectmen has called a Town Meeting for Wednesday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. to be held at the .

The Town meeting will consider and act upon eight capital requests and a request for funding from the open space fund. The capital requests are not new spending requests but rather they are accessing bulk funds already approved by the townspeople as part of the annual budget referendum. Individual capital requests are then taken by the East Granby Board of Selectmen to Town Meeting, which is the Legislative Body for East Granby.

The East Granby Board of Selectmen has requested $158,649 for road maintenance and paving. The East Granby Board of Education has requested funding for seven capital requests, which include $29,692 to replace High School auditorium stage curtains, $5,000 for band instruments and storage, $50,000 for technology, $5,000 for furniture replacement, $5,319 for high school exterior gym and library doors, $9,968 for a carpet extractor and $25,000 to update the high school science lab. The East Granby Board of Selectmen has also requested a sum not to exceed $10,000 from the Town’s open space fund to create a parking area at East Granby Farms.
